Surgical procedures used to remove scars and other pigmented lesions work by destroying tissue. However, the PicoSure laser works differently. Instead of destroying tissue, the laser encourages the body to produce more elastin and collagen, which replaces the damaged skin.
The PicoSure laser uses Pressure Wave technology, which directs a unique wavelength of light through a specialized lens. This lens converts the laser energy to a gentle pressure that activates the cells naturally.
PicoSure Laser Facials are ideal for clients with acne scars, pigment abnormality, or unwanted wrinkles. Clients with all skin types can benefit from PicoSure Laser Facials.
PicoSure Laser Facials are relatively painless. Most patients report feeling nothing more than the sensation of a rubber band snapping against the skin when the laser is activated. Following the procedure, patients may experience mild side effects, such as swelling and redness. Most patients are able to return to their normal activities almost immediately after a treatment session.
Each treatment session takes approximately 30-45 minutes to complete. These sessions require little to no downtime.
Most clients will need 3 treatment sessions to achieve the desired result. Clients should schedule treatment sessions 2-6 weeks apart for best results. Clients can maintain their results by returning for an additional treatment once every 3 months. Some types of skin issues, such as acne scars, may not reappear even if the patient doesn’t return for maintenance treatments.
The PicoSure laser utilizes fast pulses with a specialized wavelength in order to minimize the skin’s exposure to heat. Because the skin is exposed to less heat, the tissue surrounding the treatment area is less likely to be injured. Scarring from treatment with the PicoSure laser is rare and unlikely.
UnTattooU encourages clients to avoid exposure to the sun during treatment. When treating pigmented lesions, the PicoSure laser targets melanin, so exposure to the sun may interfere with the effectiveness of treatment. In addition, exposure to significant amounts of UV rays is harmful to the skin even when the client isn’t planning to receive treatment.
